Abstract

The Covid-19 virus is causing a worldwide public health crisis. Patients who recover from Covid-19, still have the possibility of experiencing sequelae. This phenomenon is known as Long Covid Syndrome. The community still does not understand the right way to deal with complaints or prolonged sequelae felt after being infected with Covid-19. Efforts to increase public knowledge in Sumbermulyo, Yogyakarta need to be made. The purpose of the study was to analyze the differences in video and booklet educational media on increasing public knowledge about long covid syndrome in Sumbermulyo, Yogyakarta. The population used was the community in Sumbermulyo, Yogyakarta, with purposive sampling technique. The sample used amounted to 74 people, which was calculated according to the Slovin formula. The research design used a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group pretest-postest approach. The data collection tool used a questionnaire, with 15 statements covering several items, namely definitions, signs of psychological and physical symptoms, and how to handle long covid syndrome. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and the Mann Whitney test, using SPSS software. The results showed that both video and booklet media were equally influential in increasing knowledge. The Mann Whitney U test results obtained a value of 0.065> 0.05. It can be concluded that there is no significant difference between health education using video and booklet media on increasing community knowledge. Both media are suitable for health education media, because the delivery of information provided is unique and interesting. In addition, educational media also needs to be adjusted to the ability of each individual to receive the information to be conveyed.
