Abstract

Hypertension is a condition of increased blood pressure due to disturbances in blood vessels resulting in the supply of oxygen nutrients carried by the blood being hampered so that it is difficult to reach body tissues. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and treatment compliance of hypertension patients of productive age in the Polyclinic of Private Hospital Yogyakarta. Research method with quantitative cross-sectional study non-probability accidental sampling technique on 65 respondents and spearman correlation statistical test. The results of the study were mostly respondents aged 46-55 years or pre-elderly (86.2%), more than half of the respondents were male (53.8%), less than half had a high school education level (38.5%), more than half of the respondents worked (38.5%) and more than half of the length of treatment > 2 years (72.3%). The results of the spearman analysis test P value 0.000 and the strength value of the correlation coefficient 0.843 so that there is a significant correlation so that there is relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of compliance with hypertension treatment of productive age. Suggestions for the community are expected to maintain compliance with treatment and for hospitals to be able to provide media leaflets or videos from the hospital's official website.
